I'm kind of curious about Paypay and sellers expecting/requesting an extra 3% for some secret function on Paypal. Can anyone explain??

I paid for an upper assembly on Saturday using PP and they did not require any disclosure about what I was paying for. Took my $$ and the transaction was done. I've sold a few items thru PP and never had any issues, I'm just curious..

Thanks

I don't use it much but I believe paypal charges the seller 3% if the buyer uses a credit card to fund the money. As far as "secret" when someone says discreet paypal they mean don't reference guns or ammo (if it asks what you are paying for in paypal) because paypal/ebay are anti-gun and lock people's accounts from what I hear.

Paypal skims a fee off the top.  It costs the seller money.  If you want to pay with Paypal you should pay the fee.  Send a money order instead.

Don't do any business with Paypal.  They are anti-gun, but know those "discrete" transactions involving "auto parts" are really evasions of their own rules;  they don't object because they can maintain their public morality and still make a profit off shooters.

Shooters should boycott all companies that do not respect RKBA like Paypal and Ebay.

Might as well give money to Dianne Feinstein as Paypal.

Paypal charges 3.5% interest.

And is not just paypal. All credit card transactions are subject to it. That's why most places when you pay with a credit card they will ask for a 3% price increase like gun broker on most listing.

And when they say discreet paypal, it just means to not mention nothing related to a weapon on the message on the actual paypal page.

P.S. This is not the forums for this question.

If paypal finds you using your account for firearm related sales etc it will get closed out. (FYI)

Then don't do any business with Bank of America. She is a huge stock holder last time I checked.

This info is basically correct, although not so clear in places.  "Discreet" is to avoid getting in trouble for the gun part of it.  The upcharge is a separate issue:  is so that you pay the paypal fee instead of them.  The fee is 3% plus 35cents as I recall.    The person receiving the money is the one that should be paying the fee's.  That is how is is normally done (and intended to be done) with paypal and any businesses who accept credit cards.

I fucking hate PayPal, period.  I don't like the fact that they charge that freaking seller's fee and their dubious tactics and policies.  I only take USPS money order or checks for transactions.  Works out for me and the guys I am doing business with.

Charging a customer any extra fee for using a credit card violates the terms of service every business agrees to when processing credit cards. Offering a "cash discount" is perfectly legitimate, but don't put up with vendors who charge extra for credit card usage. Contact your card issuer and let them sort the merchant out.

This is essentially the same practice, with a different description of cash discount. Simply raise your overall prices to cover the credit card discount rate fee.
