| The ggod news is that you'll have a couple of months until it shows up, so you can eat well until she kills you. Check out their industry page for updates on shipping, there is a page that lists what day's INVOICES are being packaged. I ordered on 2/11, and still have not been invoiced. That means that I am at least 2 weeks away from shipping, having waited over a week already. NOT complaining - I knew this all up front - it is posted all over their site, and on their pages here. I have seen some posts saying that they are getting items more quickly than others (especially the Prvi M855). I ordered .308, though - no mention of that. |

They can keep it. I was a very loyal customer until they jacked their shipping rates up. Now its cheaper to buy it locally. Not sure what your talking about? I just checked and its $18 for me to order a case of 5.56. That is UPS ground. I paid the same about 2 months ago to ship 1200 rounds. I dont see $18 as to bad for a case of ammo UPS. |

Once you start moving further away from them, states wise, their shipping calculator quotes really expensive rates. UPS Ground 1K m193 PRVI: $32.60 UPS Ground 1K 7.62x39 Wolf: ~$39 These next 2 are the 7.62 they have in stock and here are the quotes: UPS Ground 1K 7.62x39 PRVI: $41.67 UPS Ground 1K 7.62x39 Tracers: $47.67 It kinda kills any "deals" they might have. |

It's a long drive from Tennessee to California. I patronized Widener's back in the 90's and early 2000's and after a 4 year hiatus have commenced to ordering ammo and supplies again over the course of the last several months. Thank you to those in Johnson City for their continued good service and pricing. |

They can keep it. I was a very loyal customer until they jacked their shipping rates up. Now its cheaper to buy it locally. Wow....very mature...what are you 12? So now that we've established that, how can a company like PSA which is further away from me than Wideners charge $18 for a case of 1k when Wideners charges me $32? Same UPS service.....can your 2nd grade education tell me that? |

LOL. Lighten up Frances. I was just stating a fact. UPS raises their rates every January 1st. Alot of us have been ordering from Wideners for many years and are very happy with them.

I ordered a 1000 rounds of PriviM855 last week and I was just glad you had it in stock at a reasonable price. Keep up the good work! |

Wideners charges flat UPS rates, nothing more. Whatever PSA charges, it's their issue, not Wideners'. Taking it personally is not a terribly "mature" way to deal with this.

PSA = Palmetto State Armory Just curious what you mean by "flat rate." I thought a "flat rate" meant 1 price, no matter what. Kinda like flat rate USPS priority mail boxes. Same price no matter the weight, no matter what location. Palmetto seems like it's closer to flat rate than Wideners. Palmetto charges 1 shipping price per case, no matter what location. Wideners charges based on weight and location. I don't mean to jump into a fight that isn't mine. Just curious as to what you mean? And in fairness, I think Palmetto DID increase their flat rate shipping prices from $12 per case to $18 per case. Which is still VERY REASONABLE. |
| The only negative I can see about Wideners is their shipping prices. I ordered quite a bit of stuff last year and was charged almost $300 in shipping. 3 of the heaviest packages were supposed to be free shipping and I think I got charged for them (bullets in flat rate boxes). When I asked them they said it was done right, but I calculated it on UPS myself when the packages got here using their actual weight and it was under $200. I called them back and they wouldn't do anything about it. Them making an extra $100+ must have been more important than repeat business. |

And I did not mean "flat rate" but rather "unaltered UPS rate", though I can see how my words didn't make that clear. Palmetto's charging a flat rate is a business decision, and since that means that for some customers they come out making less money, it strongly implies that they up their prices to cover that eventuality. That they upped their shipping prices implies that they couldn't justify raising their product prices enough to cover increased shipping costs. This is a BUSINESS decision, and it's not like every company that sells ammunition is anywhere near the same kind of business, let alone with the same model or corporate policies...And comparing Widener's to Palmetto is literally apples and oranges, since the two companies are very different. Their shipping charges can't be compared any more than you can compare the cost to have a car shipped to having a carburetor shipped-the companies that sell cars and carburetors are way too different. |

Unfortunately I don't see it getting any better. I only wish I could keep up the pace with the whores |

Bubbles burst and people get stuck holding the proverbial bag. Kinda like those guys that paid $400,000 for $200,000 houses a couple years ago. Ouch! I'm still buying ammo these days, but mostly for shooting. I'm not about to build a stockpile during one of the highest periods of demand in recent history. EDIT: The Privi at Wideners is a damn good deal at the moment though. I wouldn't blame anyone for taking advantage of it. |

Yeah, that's understandable. Don't think for a second that I didn't pay a premium to have some reserve on hand myself in the past few months. I'm just saying that people should give pause before going above and beyond that for the moment. I think there will be an opportunity to do that at a cheaper price in a year. I was in late as well so I know exactly what you are saying. When I say stockpile, I'm talking about stacking it to the ceiling in your basement. On smaller quantities like what you are talking about I don't think saving a few hundred bucks by waiting a year is going to make or break anyone. I've seen some people though spending thousands and thousands to fill their basement in pure panic mode. |

I hear ya on the stockpiling....strangely, being a relative noob made me go out and buy a couple of cases of good blasting ammo before I actually had a small reserve of the good stuff established. Had I had to do over, I'd have bought a couple of cases of the good stuff and then shopped around for the blasting ammo afterward. Fortunately, I was able to get in on about 1400 rds of their last batch of Privi to go with the case of Lake City I bough last year. That's all the reserve I'll ever keep since its hard to bug out with any more than that. All the folks stacking to the ceilings of their basement are gonna be forced to leave it all behind if and when those times come...OR, they could just be looking to turn it all for a profit in the future after .gov bans ammo sales! |

It kind of sucks that there are guys sitting on hundreds of thousands of rounds who are still buying in bulk with the sole purpose of turning a profit when there are other guys just starting out in the game that are struggling to find just a few thousand rounds. |

Right now I shoot about 6-8 times a year so I've just been replacing it as I shoot it and leaving the good stuff stashed in cans. Big Brown just showed up with the first 200 rds of my 1400 rd M193 order today....thanks Wideners! |

It's the internet's fault. Really. Quoted for enormously great truth. If we didn't all share rumors, innuendo, blatant lies and hints, and if we didn't as much as possible pounce on "deals" and buy more than we can really afford, then prices wouldn't be doing this. The lies and rumors drive the urge to pounce "because it's all going away!!!``1111~~!!", and we wind up manipulating the variables in the law of supply and demand OURSELVES. All because the Internet lets us do this to ourselves. (Done with the soapbox now...) |
