I plan on zeroing in my AR-15 this weekend. I currently have a stash of Centurion, M193, M855, some 75gr .223 Prvi, and 5.56 TAP.
How do the trajectories of each of these loads compare. Basically, will zeroing in with the TAP (since its what I'm using for self defense) be good enough for plinking with the Centurion or PRVI and M193/M855? Thanks! |
| Shoot a little bit of each just to see how it runs through your rifle. Chances are if your in a self defense situation especially at home your going to be talking a matter of feet so distance shouldn't be an issue. For plinking I would just use whatever your cheapest ammo is just for fun. Please read the Ammo FAQ's and The Self Defense ammo posts tacked at the top of the page, they will provide you with a wealth of information. Hope this helps! |

Quoted:
37 yards POA/POI = 330POA/POI. Which (dependent upon your barrel, ammunition and sights) puts your point of impact over 4.5" higher than your point of aim at 180 yards.
http://www.box.net/shared/static/ph35x60rma.jpg you are very right...I misstyped...s/b meters not yards...FUNNY I was just complaining about a tactical carbine instructor doing this same thing...I guess any one can fuck up...at least my fuck up was on a forums post and not a professional video displaying my company's firearm knowledge. zeroing the AR15 |
| I sight in at 50yds, be very precise. You should be dead on again at 200yds, and about 8-9 low at 300yds. Mid-range trajectory should be about 1.5 in. POI may vary depending on your guns and the ammo. My guns don't change much, you will have to actually shoot them to verify this. |
