Saw it at WalMart Federal 100rd Value Pack 55gr for 39.97 not a great deal. I checked the box and it had no performance information on it. ONLY marking found 223B. ????? Anybody? |
I saw the same thing at the local wally world here in ok. Right next to the box of 200 Fed. .223 for $76.87. Better deal by $3.00 or so. and The 200 ct box I got was all LC cased. my .02 worth |
I bought 2 of these 100 round boxes last night at my local |

I never managed to get the local WMs to carry the 200 round packs, but one of them now has these new 100 round packs. I've followed up with the manager to see if they can still add the 200 round boxes to inventory, but no response yet. I bought one box but haven't been able to get to an outdoor range in a while so no info on how it works. |
Well-maybe not. I will be interested to see how this turns out. The LC will hopefully turn out to be equivalent to xm193 which has been full powered , fairly accurate and have great brass for reloading . The old AE load (although reportedly made in the same plant) was somewhat lowered power , pretty crummy accuracy and the brass was only worth picking up for scrap. Many reports of this FC headstamped AE brass having serious problems on the first or second reload. Sone claim light thickness of the brass , Some claimed it was soft . It has been working well for me in that lots of the casual Ar shooters at my club have been using these 100 packs and I have been grabbing up lots of the brass |
I am betting that the LC cases are just commercial reloads using those cases--the FC is all new. So, that nato cross does not signify a true M193 load. What I was getting at with my initial post about the 2 different cases/loads: American Eagle by Federal came in 2 different cases: LC(reloads) and new FC. The velocities were as follows: 16" barrels--M193 (~ 3000fps) > AE LC case (~2900fps) > AE FC case (~2800fps) My thoughts are that these new value packs may have similar velocity spreads. |
Thanks, that's what I was wanting to know. |

Thanks for the heads up. I went to 3x local Walmarts to look for these and finally found them at the last one. $39.97/hundred pack seems a pretty good deal for Federal brand. I am awaiting delivery of my first AR (Noveske N4 Light Recce Low Profile 16") delivering to my FFL on Monday. So I am stocking up on ammo to head to the range. Can someone recommend an online place where the prices are better than $39.97/hundred? The indoor range where I will go first to get to know my AR only allows US made ammo. Wolf locally sells for $6.99 which is cheaper; however, I not fond of their brand when I used 9mm/.45. |

Quoted: Can someone recommend an online place where the prices are better than $39.97/hundred? Fiocchi (USA) often can be found for less, but with the range Nazis you've encountered the name would probably confuse them into thinking it was foreign. Maybe you could call up your junior US Senator & have him explain it to them, I'm sure he knows as much about ammo as he does about everything else! |
| I bought some. You can't tell until you open the enclosed white boxes, which headstamp is inside. The white boxes are glued shut. Fine for plinking. I don't reload, so Black Hills is my range ammo. My local fun store has 5 boxes (ie 100) of Remington for $45. You never know what the deals are til you look around. If I was buying 1000 rounds at once, I'd consider mail order, but I'm in WM every week anyway. |
