| I've searched around some, and really haven't found much on Fiocchi ammo. Any positives/negatives? Got a line on some 5.56 55gr FMJ, and want to know if it's quality stuff and will pass the "magnet" test at the range. Thanks! |

I thought I was going to get to be the first to say "Read the Reviews thread" but Fiocchi isn't there yet. Everything I've read has been positive. It's an Italian company, and they make Boxer-primed, brass cased ammo that's supposedly "good" to better than that for reloading. |
| About two weeks ago I ran 130 rounds of it through my rifle with no problems. Another guy there had a primer blowout though. Very loud pop and the case was stuck. Turned the next three rounds in the mag black. Had to slam the bolt forward and execute a stuck case drill. The rifle worked fine after that. |
And more available. There hasn't been any Fiocchi 124gr. 9mm in a long while and I can't even find 147gr., only 115gr. They used to make 9mm Makarov and it was very nice ammo. Shiny with green primer sealant. Hot and clean. |
It is American made ammo, if we are talking about their .223. Ozark, Missouri. The vast majority of their shotshells and standard caliber (.223, .45, 9mm, .308) ammunition is made domestically. Their rimfire, oddball centerfire, and components (primers. etc,.) are imported. This is not an absolute rule, but ALL of their .223 that I have seen has been domestic. Much of the 5.7x28 that FN sells in the US is also loaded in Ozark, MO. |
Isn't the 124gr. fairly new? For several years the only ball I could find was 123gr. Never used their rifle ammo. I've used the pistol ammo for almost 10 years and never had a problem. Highly recommended. |
I'd have to check my old stock. Maybe it was 123gr. I've saved a couple of cases of it. I'm pretty sure though that it's 124gr. I searched and they're selling it again at Sportsman's Guide here: www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=284517 But the box does say 123gr. even though the text says 124gr: |
Fiocchi is a very old company, and one that's used to doing things right. |
Stock no. 223A, 223 Remington, 55/FMJ, muzzle velocity 3240. I checked it with a magnet. Non-magnetic. Very accurate ammo. Sellier & Bellot FMJ/M193 is magnetic. |
