JUST HAD A FRIEND GIVE ME 2000 RDS OF 5.56MM (M193). 1400 RDS ARE REMINGTON ARMS, 55GR LOT RA 1-21. THE OTHER 600 ARE TWIN CITIES ARMY AMMUNITION PLANT, 55GR LOT TW 18122. BOTH SHOOT A LITTLE LOWER THAN MY FRESH UMC 55 GR, AND DEFINETLY MORE SMOKE. CAN ANYONE TELL ME MUCH ABOUT THIS STUFF, CAN POWDER LOSE ITS UMPH OVER TIME? IT WAS ALL STORED IN DRY BOXES, SO MOISTURE ISNT A CONCERN.

If you post the headstamps of the ammo, you might get some good answers.

That Twin Cities is a collectors item to some.  Keep some, sell the rest.

Also, if the ammo was well kept (ammo can etc) it will shoot just fine.

Have fun!

THE REMINGTON HEADSTAMPS ARE RA 64, AND TWIN CITIES ARE TW 67. IM GUESSING THOSE WERE THE YEARS THEY WERE PRODUCED?

This sounds like the ammo that was recalled during the Viet Nam war because it had soft brass, and ball instead of IMI type powder. It should o.k in a bolt gun, and a properly cleaned AR, just keep your chamber spotless.

I agree that you should keep some and sell some.  Make money, it's the American way!

It should be fine if stored properly.
