When it comes to feeding my new LE6920... what are my choices? What is best? NATO M855/SS109: Who sells it in bulk? Thank you ~ |
|
that stuff is selling for $400+ per thousand right now. I haven't checked recent prices, it makes me sick. You would be better served shooting whatever you can get your hands on for the cheapest price you can find. Or a .22 kit. A .22 kit makes the most sense these days. |
I got in on the 7.62x51 before the price jump, but I missed out on the .223 deals - that's life. I still need to feed my new 6920, but I don't want crappy ammo - is the Bosnian or Ingram made stuff any good? |
I'd buy a small quantity, maybe 200rds and see how your 6920 digests it, before you buy by the cases...in my 6920's my 1st choice's for M855 is IMI,LC and WIN..all are accurate and function 100%...my 6920's have had feeding problems with RORG, S&B and some Igman SS109....but for the same cost you can load up on BH blue 75 BTHP and runs great in 6920's......http://www.kisermunitions.com/ |
How do you like running 55 grain WIN in the 6920? |
|
Kev, In my opinon if your plinkin and just need to get the hang of your new colt, there is absolutely nothing wrong with running 55 grain M193 down the tube. Wideners or Aim have '07 Prvi that has gotten some pretty good reviews on here. Just make sure it's the new stuff, there were short stroking problems with the older head stamps. They changed powder and it's supposed to be pretty good ammo. I think you can order a 200 rd BP for around $66 and see how you like it. Case price is about $10 cheaper. BUT For about $30 more per K, you can buy BH Blue Box 55 grain from Joe Kiser if he got more in. The 6920 is a 1:7 and will stabilize the heavier bullets no problem. Check with Joe for the skinny on heavier weights. Watch the EE for M855. Trouble is, it's so friggin high these days....if you can find it at all. If you don't need barrier penetration, I don't see the need to spend 50 cents a round for only fair to partly cloudy accuracy. I got a 6920 myself I haven't shot yet. I'm hoping mine will like Radway, I've got a shitload of it...and Guat. Good luck Larry |
Larry, Thank you I emailed Joe with a few questions. |
|
Thank you all for you replies and suggestions. It looks like Black Hills 75 gr or Hornady 75 gr TAP is what I want/need. Questions: Who is the best source for this ammo at a fair price? I'm a little confused about the bullet type, is JHP, BTHP, Match HP or OTM what I want for personal defense? What about remanufactured Black Hills ammo? |
