What level of humidity should I try to reach for ammo storage?  Now that it's winter, I thought about opening my ammo can up in the basement area where the humidity's about 35%, then after several days, seal up with desicant?  Dumb idea?

If you have good seals on the ammo cans humidity wont be a problem. Adding desicant is a good idea also. I dont think that opening the cans and then sealing them again will help anything. Just put a few packs of desicant and youll be gtg. If you dont have a lot of desicant, pour some uncooked white rice in a sock and tie it shut. It works just as well as desicant. It sounds crazy, but a lot of people, including myself put some rice in my salt shakers to prevent clumping on humid days.
