| I ordered a 1000 rounds of Wolf .223 55 grain HP to shoot out of a DPMS Panther Bull 20. Wolf has always functioned flawlessly in this gun until this batch. The ammo would not chamber, usually getting stuck where i would have to use a cleaning rod to help eject it. After some investigation I determined the shells were too long. I took 50 rounds apart, trimmed the necks and re-seated the bullets. I marked these rounds because I also took 50 rounds and just seated the bulletts deeper, to match my handloads. Needless to say all that had to be done is to seat the bulletts just a bit deeper, the ammo was too long to function in my rifle. If anyone is curious I do not know what powder they use but they only use 20 grains of it. This ammo functions flawlessly now. |
| I have not had a problem with the HP's catching, this lot was 2 hundreths over the max overall length specs for .223. Of course with ammo once you buy it you can not return it to most places. After spending the money I had to figure out why the ammo kept jamming in the gun. When you buy .223 ammo you expect it to meet specs, I dont expect it to be too long, loaded too hot ect. I am glad I had an easy fix because this is fun to just shoot without breaking the bank too bad. |
