| I am starting to stock up on 9mm ammo. Stripper clips in cardboard boxes are great to store 5.56 and 7.62 on, are there stripper clips available for 9mm that are easily accessesible and readily available? If not how do you store you 9mm other than factory boxes? |

1200  I store some of my 9mm in their original boxes, all in 50cal cans. Have a few 30cal cans filled with loose rounds. Can fit 1200rds plus one of those small aluminum-cased dessicant packs inside a thirty-can. |

Not sure why you would want your 9mm on stripper clips but if that's not a big deal than just in an ammo can as mentioned above works fine. I keep a lot of my in the original box (100 round WWB) that they came in on the shelf, I have other boxes loaded in ammo cans, I can fit 14 100 round boxes of WWB in a regular .50 cal can. That way I can just take a box or two to the range with me at a time. |

I cut up a bunch of cardboard into a matrix that fits into the ammo can. The magazine and the can will determine the sizes of the matrix. I can get about 28 sten mags and 24 25-rounder Uzi mags into an ammo can. Load them up ahead of time for more range time. Caution here, 28 sten mags loaded at 30 rounds each is close to 900 rounds. Add that to the weight of the can and mags, and you have a serious "lugging around" issue. As for stripper clips: The 9mm norma practice ammo that was around for a while came on metal stripper clips. 6 rows of 6 rounds. These stripper clips fit the C3 loader well, but not the Federal. I load up a bunch of the stripper clips and store them in the ammo can with a C3 loader for Uzi and Colt shooting. I think I can get about 40 of these in a .50 cal can. But again, there is a weight issue. Dave |

I put 1400 of WWB VP in a 50 cal can and I would like to know how to layer it so you could get 18?  Also the UMC boxes have a lot of packaging. No way to get 32 boxes in a 50 cal can without a vice and shoe horn. Are you talking 9MM?

For moving them ammo cans around I stole from the wife: She has lots of those little flat carts for big plants in the living rom and porch ect.Simple deals with cheap plastic wheels about a foot by a foot made from cedar crossed in two layers and work nice. Once she caught me with them I went to the hardware store and bought better castor/wheels and had to make my own.I used some oak pallet wood for material and drilled out holes a bit smaller and used brass dryewall screws to put together and I made to size of ammo can or some doubles to haul two,sure saves the back |
Sorry, I didn't mention that I am referring to the taller 50 cans. 18 boxes of the VP fit well in the 10'' can while the 32 boxes of 50 rds go into the 13'' can. |

This isn't for long term storage but all the .40 ammo we get is loose packed in cardboard. Ammo cans would work even better and much longer. We use something like 30K a year +/- so lots of it comes in that way. I took to storing the loose ammo I get in heavy duty nylon heat seal evidence bags. I also use ziplocs and store the bags in ammo cans. If I am going somewhere else to shoot I grab a can of whatever ammo I need and off I go. Joe |
