Do ya think if we all Email Win or Rem etc

That they would come up with a 75gr OTM in 5.56mm

I would the WIN RANGER line could use a good 75gr OTM in 5.56mm
they have a 69gr smk I think but its in 223rem pressure

I doubt that Winchester will be interested.  Aren't they filling Gov. contracts?

Let's see Hornady sells:

75grn match HPBT
75grn T2
75grn A-Max

and Sierra sells:

77grn SMK

and Nosler Competition sells:

77grn OTM, (who were the first and only bullet company to refer to a bullet as an Open-Tip-Match simply to be different I guess)

Why do we need Winchester or Remington to make another 75 grn bullet?

What do you think you can do with a new 75grn bullet from Winny or Remy that you cannot do with the choices you have now?

While I agree with you Mike, I think the OP means loaded ammo.

And as for that, well, there are already several companies manufacturing similar ammo with 75's and 77's.
HSM, Black Hills, Federal, PMC I think, Hornady (The Major used to sell his stuff also).
But all this stuff is expensive.

I've said it before and will do so again.....reload.
It's not hard

Most people want .223 pressure loads for accuracy if they use heavy match ammo.  The only market for 5.56 75 grain loads are LE and terminal ballistics nuts.  There are not enough terminal ballistics nuts to have sufficent demand.  The LE price would be very difficult to get at or below the current Hornady prices.  I dont see it happening.  It would be more probable you could get Black Hills to do a run of MK 262 and swap the 77 grain Sierra for a 75 grain Hornady in order to trade a lil accuracy for a lil better terminal ballistics and lower the price a smidge.  Then again they have their hands full with MK 262 orders right now.

And finally I got ripped off for a special load from Black Hills by someone already so I would not even consider buying such ammo myself at ANY price from ANYONE.

They are already selling out of most ammo, and why would they bother to make ammo that's for a relatively small niche market? Then they would also have to deal with people who shoot 5.56 in their .223 rifle and the bad publicity/potential lawsuits that arise from that.

It's just not a good business decision for them.

FMJ:  If the BlackHills 75 Gr. shoots good in your AR's stick with it.  Accuracy is more important than some crazy velocities.  A slow hit is better than a fast miss.

I tend to agree. The .223 pressure 75 gr OTM loads are sufficient for reasonable self defense distances. The full pressure stuff would probably perform better at 200 yards and beyond. But how many actual self defense situations is one likely to encounter at that distance? Not many, if any.

IMHO, people who insist on running 75 gr OTM at full 5.56mm pressures for the purposes of self defense are probably over-emphasizing the need for velocity. Out to 100 yards, the .223 pressure stuff will perform just fine from carbines. As such, DocGKR (Dr. Gary Roberts) has endorsed it as an acceptable load for LEO use or for civilian self defense needs.

I don't have one single round of 5.56 pressure 75 gr OTM in my house and I could honestly care less. The Black Hills 75 gr OTM is more than adequate to meet my needs, as well as nearly everyone else's needs on this board in terms of performance.

The Only OTM 5.56 load I have is the White box BH 77gr Its pretty accurate
But I Find the Blue box 77gr a tad bet better as Far as TIGHT ASS GROUPS GO

Yes I Try to Keep Blue Box 75gr in stock at all times

Yes My LMT`S M4 14.5`s Loves all 3 Types

Yes I found out YEARS ago when Reloading with my Dillon that when you go UP sometimes YA GO Down in accrucay?

So I guess if More 5.56 75OTMS come to play in the market NO ONE would be HAPPY
about the competition

And a fast hit is even better than a slow miss......most shooters in shorter length barrels want the 5.56 pressure, faster burn rate & magnum primer = reliability

But from a short barrel the difference is only 37 fps.

Hornady 75 TAP 5.56 T2

Colt 14.5" M4 profile bbl 2627 fps

Black Hills 75 grain match HP
Blue box

Colt 14.5" M4 Profile bbl 2590 fps

Do WE Qualify as MOST SHOOTERS

Its true I would PICK 5.56 mm pressure loads OVER 223rem pressure Loads

AS LONG AS IT IS AS ACCURATE AS MK262 or 5.56 75TAP

The MK262 in my 2 14.5 lmt M4S  is VERY accurate
BH 223 77gr AINT MUCH BETTER
