| I found some .223 at an auction with a F A headstamp. Who made this? It was with some Lake City M193 from 1975. |

You're correct. I found it on this link cartridgecollectors.org/headstampcodes.htm Anyone shoot this? How good is it? |

I had thought that the Frankford Arsenal had closed down in the '50s-which made me wonder about .223 with that headstamp. But Frankford ran until 1977 so that's a different thing altogether. If you have arsenal loaded FA .223, it would probably be almost if not definitely collector-grade stuff. But the brass should be great for reloading. |
| It went for $110 / can. I wasn't sure about buying because it was 1975 ammo and I wasn't sure how it had been stored (some of the other ammo they had wasn't in very good shape). There were 6 cans total about 800 rds per can. 3 were Lake City and 3 FA. All the ammo was on bandoleers. One guy took it all for $660. I only had $500 so I got out bid. |
Not a lot was produced out of the Frankford Arsenal after 1965. From what I have read it was mostly R&D and Procurement I would be curious to see a pic of the headstamp The newest F A ammo I have is .308 headstamped FA 63 with a NATO Cross |
