First one is a Winchester Black Talon. They aren't AP, despite what the media liked to report. he I.G.B. |
| Yeah, Black Talons aren't "armor piercing", but the teflon coating was supposed to "slip" through kevlar. The main reason they were axed from the public was when they mushroom, they create six sharp fingers that slice a wound channel like crazy, and emergency room personel were complaing about getting cuts from the sharp edges. I still have a few .45 left I used to keep with me for camping trips in bear country when I was traveling light. |
Don't believe this guy. Sorry dude. |

Ok, don't believe me, thats fine. Quote from Gun Tests August 97 "These bullets were discontinued three years ago because hospital emergency room personel explained they were likely to cut their fingers on the sharp edges." And, I will stand corrected that they aren't teflon coated, that was part of the media BS that demonized them to the public. |

Yes the black tallon mess was mostly hype. As with any hollow point it is designed to expand.Yes it was a decent performer but it is NOT a mystry bullet that expands twice as any other hollow point. Much of the military rifle ammo has a headstamp that identifies when it was made and by whom and many times doesn't have a caliber like comercial ammo has |
