| My boss and I went to a gun-show a few weeks ago and we ended up halving a case of Win. m855. Now I was pretty hung-over at the time of purchase,so I didn't pay close attention to the ammo during inspection. Well, today I look at the ammo and realize that the crimp at the neck is HORRIBLE!,there are actual crimp marks on every case! The bullets are kind of beat up but they are all shooters. Now these are the Win white-box m855 62 grain penetrators(as marked on the box),so these aren't loose PD rounds. I compared these to the case of RG's and the RG's are in FAR better shape and even shot better! I'm wondering of the lady put some PD's in the boxes and sold them off as Wins? When I was in the Army I never saw rounds as bad as these. Is Win. boxing up crappy rounds or what? Did the lady pull one over our eyes? She wouldn't take credit cards, only cash. The case seemed to be untouched and when I opened up a case to inspect a single box they looked pretty legit. It wasn't until I got home and checked a few weeks later and really looked up close that I saw these ugly things. I still buy the Q3131 every time I go to Bass Pro and they still look very good. What gives? The rounds are marked:WCC 06 + (NATO). |

I have a thousand rounds of IMI M855 (with 3 different head stamp dates & from 4 different lots) & all of it has a very pronounced crimp on the brass. It all came in sealed factory boxes BTW. FWIW, I also have some Lake City M855 & some FN made SS109 & neither of them have a dramatic crimp. My guess is that the heavy crimp style is simple indicative of Israeli manufactured ammo & nothing out of the ordinary. |

Pics of some crimps. From a thread I have over in the RELOADING Forum. Lee Factory Crimp Die. (My Experience w/ Pics.) ![]()

| I came across some tracer rounds on Broker that were not as advertised, they were 223, not 5.56 l c orange tip, and they were reloads, Would not extract after firing, trashed them all. I can't remember the seller to defame him now, but he had a positive rep, claimed to break open the round and showed us the insides claiming how badass old school these rounds were.NOT. They are out there. |
