located here: www.ar15.com/content/page.html?id=173 -the ".223 black hills 75gr OTM" is the same thing as .223 pressure hornady 75gr TAP, right? -what would the chart look like for 5.56 pressure 75gr TAP? -Would anyone with the appropriate software be able to expand the charts to include 11.5" and 10.5" barrels for the 75 and 77gr loads? thanks |

On the bottom of this thread has the info you are looking for: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=16&t=283506&page=11 |
that's some great info, and should probably be added to the charts in the FAQ! do you have any velociy data for the SBR barrels? |
THat I don't. Send "Devl" an IM he may have them since he has an SBR and he shoots the TAP ammo. |
You have all the Fun |

Quoted: Here's a graph of the trajectories of 5.56 TAP and TAP FPD fired from a 14.5" M4 barrel 5.56 TAP muzzle velocity: 2627 fps TAP FPD muzzle velocity: 2450 fps Is there any muzzle velocity data using a [10.3/10.5] Barrel? Furthermore, according to the Ammo Oracle, the 2,700 fps rule for Fragmentation doesn't really apply to this stuff, rather it's more like the 2,100 fps rule. Is the reason this stuff is so effective due to the OTM nature (i.e. controlled expansion) more so than fragmentation? |
Molon's PDF is in the "choices for self defense ammo" tacked post. |
I scanned through all 145 pages of that writeup, but couldn't find data for 10.5 and 11.5" barrels. Do you remember which page it was on? |

If you look at the MSTN Thread on Muzzle velocity: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=2&f=134&t=149575, it shows that MK262 out of a 10.5" barrel is 2363fps. (MK262 and 556 TAP are very close). So if you use the velocity of 2363 for the 5.56 TAP and a fragmentation threshold of 2200fps, the maximum fragmentation range out of a 10.5" barrel is around 80 yards. |
