Just an FYI. I stripper clipped all my M855PD ammo today. 1K worth. Bought this some time ago maybe 3 years ago. Anyway, I had a personal rejection of 11 rounds. 4 rounds cracked/ split necks 3 rounds bullet depth issues 3 rounds dented 1 round FUBAR. So that's .011 % rejection not bad. Moral of this post, check your ammo. |
Mathmatically speaking and not to piss on your parade or anything.

Your math foo is weak Firefoxammo....Troy is 100% correct 11/1000 is exactly the same as 1.1/100 with both at 1.1% but your first post listed 0.011% which isn't correct

That doesn't sound like a horrible rate as far as bad rounds go per 1000. Of course it probably varies a bit from box to box. I never really kept track. But considering the price difference between PD and the other M855 options, that is probably pretty acceptable. You usually don't have to toss aside too many rounds. BTW, I once had some fella tell me that he encountered an issue with the PD ammo in which one of the loaded rounds had no powder in the case! Apparently it had a primer and bullet, but no go juice. ![]() Ah well, never experienced that myself, but I guess anything is possible. I dunno if this person was BSing me or being truthful. I have heard of instances where the charge was a bit inconsistent with this ammo but every since hearing that story I also make it a point to shake any PD ammo before I set it aside for use in addition to the visual inspection, just to make sure it contains powder. |
| I purchased 1k and in the process of sorting it. The primer sealant is irratic some have alot of purple sealant some none some tips have very little green paint some more. The bullets of some are slighly deformed. Headstamp 05 so far will post total reject rate |
| So far 500rds processed about 30 were pulled out only ONE was total defect as bullet was movable into the case the other were separated because of minor dents or minor deformation of the tips also some spiral scratching on the cases which is not a big deal So in summary 500rds processed one total defective rd and about 30 with minor cosmetic details |
1k processed. 2 bullets loose in cases. 3 badly dented. 29 minor dings looks to be from loose packaging. 24 with minor spiral scratches near the bottle neck. 4 bullets deformed. 1 with excessive bullet sealant on case neck. All were LC 05 with 3 rds of 06 mixed in the 1k. In summary 5 rds not safe to fire with 29 slight dented and 24 scratched these rds will be fired just not reloaded. |
