Before you guys and gals think this is asking for a review im not. I check the sticky and it looks to be a pretty decent ammo for target shooting.

I found some 20rd packs for somewhere in the 6 dollar range... I can't remember the exact amount of hand, but anyways. Is this a pretty good deal or just an average one?

I used $6.50/20 = .325. 30 something cents a piece. Yay? Nay?

Not a great price.  I think Walmart out here has it for just over $5 a box.

$5.34/20 at walmart.

SG has it for $232/k if you can wait till January (and assuming they get it in then).  They have single boxes in stock for $5.01 if you're a member.

$6.5 a box would be $100 more per k.

not a good price but not herendous.  I'm actually a little mad at my self right now.  At a show yesterday a dealer had about 15 boxes of the yellow boxed UMC for like $4 a box.  I should have bought them all but I didn't buy any.  I was going to but some but I forgot to go back and buy it before I left, oh well

Walmart is an easy source.

I picked up 1k rounds of the green box for $225 off Gunbroker.com a few weeks back.

I would not buy it for over $200/1000.

The last case i bought about 7 months ago was $179/1000 delivered.  At that price it was barely acceptable plinking ammo.  Weak crimp, soft brass and dirty powder.

I think you might be hard pressed to find decent brass ammo for $200/1000rds

For sure.

Which is why i am not buying much plinking ammo right now.  As plinking prices have exploided from $179/1000 to $240/1000 premium ammo prices have remained pretty constant at about $11.00/20 for BTHP ammo.  so I'm stocking up on Fed GMM and Horn Match instead.

For plinking ammo I'm sticking with the Horn 75Gn practise load at just over $216/1000 delivered, Georgia Arms canned heat and Black hills Blue box.
