The MC is made by either Uly or Barnaul I believe. Have shot about 1.5k. Good ammo.

Classic is lacquer coated, standard is polymer coated.  I've heard the polymer coated is better in that it does not coat the chamber with lacquer and dirty it up as bad, but I have no first hand knowledge.

I had a dealer at the funshow last weekend tell me that the lacquered stuff is intended for "military" rifles like the surplus SKSs that are showing up from Yugoslav stocks and such, while the poly stuff was for more recent guns that can get gunked up by the lacquer.  It makes sense, but my AK is Chinese and as far as I can tell it's like 90% military (without those evil extra fire control parts, of course) including a standard military barrel.  I guess the guy figured that the Texas company making AKs nowadays was a major player...

The military classic has a red lacquer seal on the outside around the mouth of the case and the bullet. The new polymer stuff does not have the red seal. After shooting both of them, I can't tell the difference between them.

Wolf Military Classic according to Sportsmans Guide: Military Classic Line...Polymer-coated steel case. Boxer-primed. Non-corrosive. 55-grain. Bi-metal full metal jacket bullet. Muzzle Velocity: 3,241 F.P.S. Muzzle Energy: 1,283 ft.-lbs.

I ordered some and it was as advertised, polymer-coated.  It did have the red seal as stated but all of the polymer coated Wolf , MC and even the Golden Bear has had the red sealing.

Wolf talked Uly into going to polymer cotaing, so the newer stuff will be polymer coted, but the original WMC was/is laquered.

I dont care, just so long as it is loaded by Uly.

This discussion gets a little more important if you are talking about 7.62x39 as compared to .223. With the 7.62 x 39, the Uly military classic hollow points are the ammo of choice if downrange performance is what counts. If you are just punching holes in paper, it doesn't matter so much if FMJ, SP, or HP.
