I recently was told there were bullets call subsonics and after seeing some from some other person I wanted to find some for my 22 riffle. Unfortunately the only brand I see for subsonic is Aguila .22 SSS. Anyone tried this before? Another thing is will be it safe if I ever burn some subsonic 223 in the M4 too? I hear they get stuck? |

Depending on whether you're buying one or building one the process is a little different. If you're building one, you need to fill out a form 1(available from ATF), along with getting fingerprinted and photo-ed(IIRC), get the CLEO to sign off, and send ATF a one time $200 payment. When/if you get the paperwork back with tax stamp affixed, you can start building a suppressor. If you're buying one, you'll need to go through a Title 2 dealer with a Type 03 FFL. He should have the proper forms for you, but if not you need a Form 4 from ATF. Fill it out, get fingerprinted, photo-ed, CLEO signoff, and $200 payment. After the paperwork comes back with tax stamp affixed, you can take possession of the suppressor. Edited to add-- If the CLEO won't sign off, you have a couple of other options. Forming a corporation is one of them, and there is also some kind of trust thing that you can do. Both eliminate the requirement for a CLEO signoff. |
