I just picked up another 3000 rounds of 55 grain IMG surplus. Man I love this stuff, it shoots great out of my gun. While comparing the old stock with the new stuff. I noticed that the old was stamped "IMG 5.56 91" but the newer stuff is "G 5.56 98". I found this interesting because the single "G" headstamp is also a Federal Cartridge Corp., Minneapolis, MN headstamp. I had been told that an American ammo company had set up the Guatemalan factory in the early 80's. Coincidence?????? Wedge Headstamp Guide

I would agree that their ammo is first rate. I was a little skeptical when I bought my first battle pack to try out. But the stuff shoots great out of my guns. The accuracy is outstanding and I've yet to have a defective round. I've since gone through 2 cases and I'm buying up all I can get my hands on. I've chronographed it and pulled several rounds for examination. The consistency is very good in all areas. I think the quality is right up there with the american ammo manufacturers. I never would have guessed that ammo from a third world country would be this good. Wedge |
| Wedge (or anyone), probably a stupid question, but where can one get this ammo in bulk? From the description Wedge gave, it sounds like really good, quality stuff. I was about to drop quite a but of money elsewhere, but since I have seen this post, if it's still available, I might consider getting a few cans of this. |

I just got 500rnds in the mail today.... '00 headstamp. I won't be going to the range anytime soon.... Damn iT!!! |
Well, I'm not Aimless but I've got over 14K of this stuff. Burned up a couple K and have had ZERO problems. The stuff I shot up was the battle pack stuff which has some cosmetic issues with some of it. This stuff is way nicer. Great range stuff, and it's M193 spec 5.56, not downloaded .223 so make sure your rifle is chambered for it. On a par with SA 5.56 to me, but is reloadable if you want. |
