Does anyone know the muzzle velocity and minimum velocity for fragmentation of Hornady TAP 75gr ammo in both 556 NATO and 223?  Basically, I'm just wonderin' what kind of flight path it would have and what kind of range it would be effective in fragmenting to, so if you already have the trajectory figured up from a ballistics calculator, that'd be great, too.  I'm really wantin' to check mainly for 16" and 20" barrels, though it'd be nice to know for 14.5", too.  Thanks.

DevL where are you???

Sorry I don't have an answer but DevL seems to know everything about what you've asked here.  Just give him a chance to see the thread.

I thought the 75/77 was 2,100fps, while the 68/69 stuff was 2300fps? The 75/77 grain stuff gives you frag range out to 260ish yards, while the 68/69's are around 230ish yards. Assuming max velocity.

Ya don't need DevL or anyone to answer this question as there's a tacked topic in the Ammo-Faq thread tacked to the top of this forum giving this information for those that can read, here:

www.btammolabs.com/tests/5.htm

There are also numerous threads on this subject IN this forum, for those with the ability to "scoll" thru the Ammunition Forum, here's a couple:

www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=16&t=273239

www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=16&t=262906

The Hornady TAP issue has been beat to death for last few months and the only folks who cannot seem to find information on this subject are those who do not bother to look.

colt 16inch barrel plus PHANTOM 1/7 twist?

Is this a 14.5 w/Phantom to make total 16 inch?

Or just a 16 inch barrel plus Phantom?

Reson I ask is I find it odd to add the Phantom on a already long 16 barrel?
But its is a GREAT Flash Hider Anyway?

Nice entrance, Danno.

PS I don't spend much time in the ammo forum, or much time contemplating ammunition choices other than price, try to stick to 62gr stuff, and stay clear of junk

But lately I have found myself interested in shooting the better rounds like the TAP, BH 75 or 77gr offerings. Not your everyday paper-punchers, though.

So to recycle these topics is appreciated.
