Ok looking at getting a basic chronograph to use.  What is a good one to get to start with?  Just looking at a basic one now, dont need the printer or anything extra like that.

Thanks,
FA Gunner

I have a Chrony Beta Master and it works just fine for occasional use.  They're on sale through 12/31 at MidwayUSA for $120.

ETA:  You'll need the auxillary light set when chronographing indoors.  I had to use them before I joined an outdoor club.

I have the CED Millenium, it's an awesome Chronograph.

If all you're ever going to do is get .fps readings, and not often at that, then get a cheapo but if you don't mind spending $180+, the CED is AWESOME. It's got all the features on the remote, stupid easy to use, has a PC interface, even voice readout so you don't have to look up to hear your data. Superb unit, well worth the $70 more than the basic models.

Dillon sells them, that's where I got mine.

Found this googling it...

$169 at MidwayUSA.  They're backordered right now though.  Search around and you'll probably find one.

I've just ordered a Pact Model 1 XP, the brains sit on the bench so you can't mess them up with a bad shot, ready to run for $129.95, and made in USA.

I had one of those, and returned it for the CED. The printer quit after about 1/4 roll, and the whole unit kept screwing up, giving random errors and it seemed to need SUPER bright days to work correctly to begin with. I might have gotten a lemon, but the CED that replaced it is SUPERB.

Also, the PACT advertises that it works with the PC, but there's no software out for it (or at least there wasn't as of 6 months ago when I had mine). I was extremely pissed that they marketed it for a feature that didn't exist as PC interface was a big selling point.

Don't know what to tell you. You've had bad luck with Pact. I've had bad luck with CED.

What went wrong with your CED? If you don't mind elaborating. Also, does PACT now have PC software for their unit?
