I'm wondering how far tracers usually go untill you would be able to see the bullet? I have some Talon and Winchester demilled tracers and and it doesn't start to ignite untill about 100 and maybe 200 yards out. Is t hat normal? Cause I've heard someone say that tracers ignite at about 10 yards. Could someone help me clarify this? Thanks |

Tracers vary in their behaviour. Some are "sweet and innocent", ignite within 50 yards and frolic in the water when they terminate... Others are more sinister, and mischevious! They DO like to start pesky range fires!!! It's all their fault I tell ya!!! ![]() ETA: If you are shooting pulled projectiles, chances are your loads are not as hot as the .mil loads they were designed for, and your not getting ignition as soon. |
I have noticed. I caught a brushy pasture on fire a couple days ago...on a pipeline and near a natural gas meter thing (something like that)...IN A BURN BAN
