I just bought some mixed lot loose .308 and need some help ID-ing the ammo.  The lot included:

Isreali

IMI 99 Nato
IMI 97 Nato

Belgium

FN 76 Nato

Malasian (?)

T Z 78
T Z 76

Winchester Cartridge Company (?)

WCC 79

????

SMI 75 Nato

Do you guys know anything about this ammo?  If the TZ is Malasian I  know some of the stuff I shot before was a bit weak and my FAL didn't like it.

Società Metallurgica Italiana, Campo Tizzoro, Italy.

From here: www.cartridgecollectors.org/headstampcodes_bottom.htm

BTW, the T Z is also Israeli and the WCC is Winchester.

WCC actually stands for Western Cartridge Company.  Western bought Winchester (the ammo division) around 70 years ago (and was later bought by Olin Chemical, who owns Winchester today).  "WCC" is used by Winchester/Olin as a military headstamp, whereas their commercial ammo is stamped "WIN" or "Winchester".

Also found some

2 or 3 rounds of FNM or FMM that appears to have steel core

and some stuff that had

H       (pie as in 3.14)  7  7

Not sure what that is.

Sounds like you are a Southern Ammo buyer?

Alot of mixed head stamps!  It seems to shoot okay though.

Those characters are Hebrew.  It would indicate Israeli ammo also.

All the Malaysian I've shot had MAL and date headstamps.   Your TZ's sound Isreali to me

Yep, TZ or TZZ is Israeli.

The FMN is Portugese, and has a mild steel jacket under the copper coating, but it is not steel cored.

Yep I am lucky enough to have them so close (~90 miles).

Between the link I posted above and this one here: www.geocities.com/gregory_bo/index1.html, these should cover most of your headstamp queries.
