| I get the impression that problems with Wolf are more common in rifles than carbines due to Wolf's marginal port pressure. I am mainly interested in the 16 vs. 20" barrel issue, but thought I'd throw in chrome lining and chamber size to boot, since I had room. |

Maybe I shoudl have made the last option "No problems" instead of "Don't shoot Wolf". Remember, the purpose of the pole is to determine whether or not my perception that problems with Wolf polymer is more common in rifles is accurate. I'm only interested in the problems. The Wolf poly review thread clearly shows most people do not have problems. |
That's an interesting perspective. FWIW, I've never had any problems firing Wolf through my chrome-lined Bushy VMatch carbine. ETA: with 5.56 chamber. |

My Fulton Armory Legacy (20" Colt USGI 1x12 chrome lined barrel) doesn't like Wolf. Works flawlessly with M193 and Q3131A, but often short strokes on Wolf (any mag. two different lowers). The upper is broken in--probably 1,500 rounds by now--and passes the 40 degree tip test from the manual. The gas system is tight when I chamber an empty casing and blow down the barrel (a test suggested in another thread). There is no evidence of a loose carrier key. I've even tried polishing the chamber and another (heavier) bolt carrier. The rifle just does not like Wolf. Seems like the only other failures with Wolf I have seen have been with rifles. I understand carbines tend to overfunction, so are more tolerant of lower port pressures. I know I could have the gas port re-worked, but I am not going to do that just to shoot Wolf. I am working on a carbine build with a Bushmaster Superlight barrel (just waiting on the barrel and Vortex). I'll use that to shoot Wolf. |
