I was at a nearby indoor pistol range earlier today.  Apparently they've changed management recently, and now they've got a bunch of AR gear in the display cases

Anyways, I noticed a beat-up SBR in one of the cases, and he said it was for rent at the range, which led to my question "You mean I can shoot .223 here?" (it used to be pistol only).  They said that yes I could, but that I had to use some kind of frangible ammo made of compressed powdered copper.  They said they usually stock it there to sell it to you on the way in, but they were out of it at the moment.

So now I have a few questions:

1) What mfgs make this ammo?
2) Is it generally safe and normal to use in my AR, or is it known to cause any kind of problems?
3) Would it stabilize enough (my rifle is 1:7 twist 14.5 M4 profile barrel) that I could use it with a can, or would it come out wobbly and dust itself against the baffles?

1. A lot of companies make frangible loads.  No telling which they carried.

2. No problems I can think of besides empty-wallet syndrome.

3. It'll stabilize just fine.  A high-speed impact is required to break it apart.
