Dont you just love the word, the way it rolls off your tounge, battlepacks...damn. Anyway what I was wondering was, are battlepacks a thing of the past or are they still being manufactured for military use?

Everytime I see that picture I get a warm feeling in my heart. |
---------- How many rounds per plastic container? |
The new-production SA ammo is all loaded to .223 specs, not to the hotter M193 specs. And due to the UN Small Arms Proliferation Treaty and other pressures, I would not expect to see any more "military" ammo from SA. -Troy |

Yassuh. A source would be good. Even better than "battlepack" for being euphonious is the term "battle rattle". I used to irritate the hell out of my big city friends by calling their little waist/butt packs their battle rattle. Dang. The photo posted above makes me feel inadequate. |
I disagree somewhat. Granted you can talk about the rubber seal ( the achilles heal of the cans), but the battlepacks can't withstand the abuse of metal cans. I bought some 140 round packs of South African (?) 7.62 some time ago that wasn't stored properly. The rubber felt thin and brittle in some places and there were cigarette burn type holes in the packs as well. |
If I knew where I could order some I'd order at least 2k worth right off the bat. And I (more or less) have enough to last until late summer/early fall. |
Very true. AIM was selling "unsealed" Hirt battle packs for a while. They were infested with termites, who had eaten through the plastic and were eating away at the cardboard boxes. They had pallets of this stuff, and it took almost 2 years for them to get rid of it. -Troy |
