I have a RRA Entry Tactical and the range that I would like to join only allows FMJ, but, nothing higher then 2000 FPS. Is there such a round out there? The range sells there own frangible ammo at $25 per 50 rounds, OUCH! I live in Massachusetts so buying any ammo that needs to be shipped is illegal, so no frangible ammo for me, What do I do?

You don't have many options.  Either a .22LR kit, or you purchase their frangible ammo.  Ammoman had some surplus import frangible ammo for fairly cheap, but you'd need to take a trip to NJ to get it if you can't receive it via mail.

Frangible ammo is generally expensive (partly due to the design, and part due to the small quantities made), but it is required for most indoor ranges due to the rating of the backstop.

Your other option is to use a different (perferably outdoor) range.

This is a dumb question, but do they make you shoot through a chrono?  Just wondering.  I agree, I don't know about slowing one down that much.

Find someplace else to shoot.  That place sucks and must be run by idiots.

The People's Republic of Taxachusetts isn't exactly firearms-friendly, and finding a place to shoot is no simple matter.  In many areas the one and only place you can shoot is at a members-only club, and those can be hard to break into since they often require new members to be sponsored by existing members.  If you're new in such an area or you're on the outs with the in-crowd, you're SOL.  In any event, there aren't many places to choose from, and it's a safe bet JJMO's decision is motivated less by choice than by necessity.

I remember seeing some plastic bullet 556 out there, that shouldn't harm the bullet traps.  From the range owner pwerspective, I see their point.  Rifle backstops are more expensive to purchase/maintain that pistol plates (the 2000 fps limit), and even with rifle plates there are problems.  At a range near me, it once was ok to shoot 556 or 762 against their bullettraps, but then a bunch of  jackasses decided they wanted to shoot AP, so there went the traps, and there went any rifle being allowed to shoot there.

They do not make you shoot threw a chrony but they do inspect your ammo.
