I read a lot of people use XM193 ammo in their AR-15.  I just read the ammo oricle about it, but I am still a little confused.

Since XM193 is 5.56mm, can I still use it in my new Bushmaster 20"??

If so, where is a good place online to order it from?

What does barrel length have to do with caliber?

Either you have a 5.56 barrel of a .223 barrel.

If you have a 5.56 barrel, you can safely shoot 5.56 and .223.

If you have a .223 barrel, you may have problems with the higher pressured 5.56 ammo.

And read the tacked topics for where to find your ammo.

read the side of the reciever. more than likely it will say 5.56, if so , you're good to go.

I don't have my rifle here with me right now so I can't look at it for a few days to see what it says.  I just bought it from a gun store the other day, brand new Bushmaster A3 removable handle and 20" barrell.  I figured they only come one way, I didn't know you had the choice of either .223 or 5.56mm.

Quoted:

Great, I'll make the order, thank you sir!

What's stamped on the barrel is more informative than what's stamped on the receiver.

If it's a Bushmaster, it should be stamped B MP 5.56 NATO 1/9 ahead of the front sight.
Or something like that.
