I've read on here that Wolf is pretty cheap ammo if you just want to blast away at water jugs.  My local range goes out to 100 yards.  Obviously Wolf is less accurate, but will I notice it at that rather short range?

Thanks!

At 100 yards, exspect around a 3" to 6" group (depending on your rifle, and abilities).

The fun is using a 6" black bulls eye taget and cutting the black out of it (like shooting the star out at the carnival).

My Arsenal SA M7 will hold 3MOA with Wolf at 100 yds.  Plenty accurate for that range.

I have been shooting Wolf in my AR and was thinking that the groups were not that great but now that I read this, I'm not as dissapointed.  I'm shooting about 3/4" - 1" at 50 yards.  From what you are saying about Wolf, that isn't too bad is it.

Nope! I get 2 MOA. all the time with wolf in my 16 inch Oly arms

when shooting a mansized target at 50yds on the move I can keep them all center mass or a few head shots....but they are deffinently spread apart...I wouldnt be surprised if mine are 2-3" groups at 50

How many round in that group?  I've shot 3 round sighting groups that good at 50 but no way will it hold that for 10 rounds.  By comparison I've shot a 10 round .57" group with Winchester 55gr Balistic Tip Silver.  Wolf won't win no shooting contest.  If your rife shoots it good, it will shoot something else MUCH better.

Still good for having fun though.

I just got home from shooting some Wolf 62 grain.

At 375 yrds, I was hitting a gallon antifreeze jug. In fact, I hit it 13 of 15 shots. have
I have NO problem with Wolf accuracy. Or Model 1 for that matter.

Peace through superior firepower. hug.gif

There's that work plinking again when we're talking about a Man's Weapon!

How about Blasting ammo,instead?

Even if I'm just PLINKING I like to hit what I'm shooting at. If you want to make noise buy some firecrackers.

I never plink! I like to hit what I'm shooing at. Like my friend that got a new truck and put .39cent oil in it. Wolf 55gr shot 2" groups in post ban hbar colt 1-7 twist. with 9 power scope.sp1 shot 3.5" groups at 100.4 power scope.

Y'all misunderstand what I'm sayin'.  I'm not talking about indiscriminate fire, I'm talking about the woefully inadequacies of the onomatopoeia created by "plink" to describe" shooting with an AR.

A .22 rimfire goes "Plink" when you fire it, hence the word "plinking".  An AR goes "BAMMM" - not even near "plink".

All I'm saying is call a plink a plink and a blast a blast.

Look at the first sentence in the first post.  He says he wants to "blast away".

I rest my case.

My Oly Multi match with a 16" barrel will not do much better than 3.5 MOA.  This little number will shoot MOA with my reloads and under 2 MOA with XM193.

WOW. M17s with 3x-9x42 optic GROUPS with wolf (probably 5 inch or so groups), whereas it shoots MOA with .mil ammo with ease.

I was getting about 2-3 MOA at 100yd using my self-built 24" AR-15. The barrel is a chrome-lined Bushmaster 4150, 24" NM Heavy-Barrel, Pre-Ban threaded, A2 flash hider, bayo lug.

I was using a scope and could only maintain about 2-3 MOA using 10 round groups.

It's not BAD but it was so underpowered that it was not cycling properly, causing the carrier to latch against the bolt catch. The Wolff XP action spring was too stiff for the underpowered Wolf ammo to push back fully.

Once I finished up the small supply of Wolf I had, I used XM193 and it was slamming back the carrier properly and latched up on the bolt catch properly.

I was using my CH to manually cycle rounds every 2-3 shots using Wolf.

I'll never use Wolf again in my AR-15 for this reason alone. It can cause serious malfunctions down the line for MY particular rifle. Since I was shooting single loads only, nothing bad happened.

Like I said... I won't knock it, or the rifle that likes it.  I can't get that out of my rifles.  I know it's not trehnique when I load up a box of Winchester Silver Tip and eat the X ring out of the target at the same range.  It just doesn't perform in my rifle.  I still use it for blasting and it's plenty accurate for that application.
