I emailed Remington over the weekend to find out if I could get some ammo before deer season. Graciously they replied.

"Response (Dell) - 10/07/2004 04:24 PM
Dear Brandon,

Thank you for your inquiry.  Currently, we have not shipped the 6.8mm
out to our wholesalers.  You may wish to check back with us in December."

Well, at least now I know.hug.gif

If you have a 6.8 already, you ought to be able to handload or have someone handload you enough ammo for the hunting season without too much trouble.

I don't have an upper in that cal. I would like one, as it seems like the ultimate AR round. The practical side of me can't buy something that I can't even shoot yet.

I don't know anyone who handloads.

If the price of it someday goes down to something comparable to 5.56 I'll switch entirely.

The only issue I have with the AR is that teeny little bullet.  All the AK and M1 guys mock me, even the M1 Carbine guys. ;)

If the 6.8 would get off the ground, I'd buy in too.

The Glock 37 was announced at SHOT 2003, and I think mortals only got access to them & ammo 9-12 months later...

The 6.8 was announced at SHOT 2004.  Do the math.

6.8 solves a much more interesting problem than 45GAP (WTF).

Noticed to day on the Remington site the have listed the 6.8 SPC (Express® Core-Lokt®  6.8 Rem SPC) and in their Reduced Manage load for the 270 Win a 115 PSP.

That is definitely a new development then.  I'll have to check their site out.  This is good.  Plus in  one of the police/gun magazines, they had an article with the ltr in 6.8 and they used an 85 grain xlc bullet (barnes).  I think that's what it was.  I'm assuming they must've handloaded it but they thought it would be a good police sniper load.  It clocked at around 3000 fps according to them.  I didn't sit and read the whole article.  I guess I should've.  But when I saw it I didn't have much time.
