Best surplus currently available for 7.62x51mm.

Oldest stuff I've seen was 1989, most is from the early 90's.  The only reason the Aussies surplussed it out was the complete switch over the the F88 (Steyr AUG) from the L1A1 (Inch pattern FAL).  They no longer needed the rifle ammo.

The Aussie stuff is clean, accurate, and sure fire!

Buy as much of it as you can afford before it disappears.

The number of countries out there that still have 7.62Nato in their inventories to someday offer as surplus IS shrinking.  The days of south african or cheap port battle packs are long gone.    The days of decent priced Hirtenberg ammo that shot FANTASTICALLY is pretty much long gone.

Port has returned but it's not the deal it once was.     The Aussie stuff used to be totally kick butt when it was shipped in bandoleers in individual 200 round ammo cans, got around 2k rounds of that sittin around.   Now the Aussie is in sealed blister packs.

I've got 2k rounds and I'm likely to buy more of the stuff currently coming in in blister packs after Christmas, maybe another 1200 rounds or so.

I shot over 1000 rounds of Aussie .308 this past weekend
with no problems of any kind. Now I need some more.
