Hello,

I've read several months ago that Silver primers/caps on certain cartridges are better than regular brass/copper. I'm referring to Handgun ammunition.

Can anyone tell me why?

Sincerely.

I would guess that who ever told you that had better luck with ammo that was loaded with a cirtain primer that happened to be colored silver.  Most of the reloading primers I load with are colored silver.  As far as I know, color doesn't matter one bit.  Several companies make primers that are silver in color but can preform differently.  I wouldn't worry about it in factory ammo.
