I have a Bushmaster XM15 E2S . I just purchased it a few weeks ago.The day I brought it home I had a jam which I cleared.I was firing 5.56 and the bullet case  from the jam was missing the primer!! Should I not use this ammo any longer? The box is labled with a date I think thats 1981.
The bullet had fired......the jam was just with the case. Thanks   Shane 22three

We need to have more info on the ammo.

Manufacturer and/or headstamp marks on the bottoms of the rounds, and Lot Number if showing on a box, would help.

5.56MM Ball M193 14 Sep 1981  LOT 27  Mal 9-81    made in  Malaysia  all this indformation was on the white box of 20 rounds.I have since cleaned the  weapon and there was no primer that I saw.Perhaps it fell out when I cleaned it. I fired alot of 5.56 in the Army in the early to mid 80s and I never saw that one happen! Thanks for any info!! Shane 22three

It definitely sounds like a fluke to me. I have fired tons of the Malaysian ammo and have never had a problem. I prefer this ammo to all other 5.56 that I've used. Try some more and see if the problem happens again.

What sort of "jam" was this a failure to eject, failure to extract, or ??
