You should be able to hit the same planet you are on.  Wolf usually has poor accuracy. Usually the worst of the Russian ammo makers.

The HP is not made to expand so do not expect it to be a great critter killer.

Go over to ak47.net and they have 7.62x39 ammo tests.  Wolf shot 4  inch groups out of an AK at 50 yards.  Barnaul shot much better, around 2 inches, about same cost.  Perfectunion.com has help with Mini's typical non-accuracy.

I have had rather bad luck with Wolf 7.62x39 in my Mini 30.  The primers seem a little hard and hence I get about one in ten that fail to fire.  I can take the same rounds and stick them in a SKS and they go bang every time.  Hence, the Ruger doesn't seem to put as heavy of a mark on the primer as the old Eastern Block rifles.

You may want to try Barnaul or Silver Bear.  Perhaps give Sapsan a try too?

I have a nice scope on my Mini 30.  I've tried just about everything to get it to group well and have never been very happy with my results.  I don't know if I have a bad one, but the best I see is about 4MOA.  Not too impressive!  Do me a favor and let me know how you do.  If you can get your rifle to group better than mine, please share what you've done.  I've given up.

Wolf bullets are likely to measure .311" in diameter, but your Mini-30 is not likely to have a .311 bore.  At one point Mini-30s were bored to .308" and shot best with Federal AE 7.62x39 ammo, or the Winchester offering due to their use of .308 bullets.

I have not had much experience with Wolf AK ammo, and my insight might be out of date, so your mileage may vary.  It wouldn't hurt to pull a round and measure it or contact Ruger and Wolf to get their data though.

You'll all call me a liar, but back in the early-mid '90's, I had a mini-30 that would should sub-moa w/ norinco ammo. Like an idiot, I sold it.

That's simply wrong.  The early Mini 30s were indeed .308s.   The Ruger Mini 30 has been .311 for a very long time.  Call the boys in Newport NH and you can determine which type you have.

Ok thanks!  I suspected as such, but it would still be a good idea to check the ammo you are using, and get the exact specs from Ruger.
