What do you think?

Save your money and DONT buy the 55gr.

DO buy the 62 grain SS109, that stuff is very good.

I've shot LOTS of both...no problems...just my $.02 - Other will tell you the 55g stuff is junk...I've never had a problem....so, you make the call.

I have shot a few K of the 55gr .223 + 9mm,and.45acp.  One of my friends has shot about the same amt. Out of more the 9-10k total only one "bad" round.  I don't reload so I can't speak about the brass.  The "bad" round (.223)had a primer that was inserted kind of funny.  I noticed it while loading the mag and tossed it.  Other then that I have never had any trouble w/ S&B.

My son shot 100 rds of 55gr this week out of his 1/9 OLY PCR-4. He said it seemed hotter than XM193, which is what he usually shoots ... he had to adjust his elevation, and the brass was ejecting somewhat farther than XM193 normally does. He did not think it was any dirtier than XM193, though, and seemed every bit as consistent and accurate.

He is impressed so far, and we both intend to try more in the future.

I've never shot any .223, but have some .45 ACP and it works fine. I do recall a few people on this board reporting problems with it in the past, possibly even KBs, IIRC.

My opinion: If it's close in price to Q3131A or XM193, then don't bother. It may say "M193", but it's a copper plated, steel-jacketed bullet, so it won't perform like M193. In other words: it's plinking ammo. The S&B I've seen seems to run well over $3/box of 20, which is no great deal for plinking ammo. I would look for something less than $3/20 for plinking assuming it feeds OK in your gun.

I have shot several thousand rounds of both the 55gr and the 62gr and they shoot well.  In my area it is just as cheap to buy as is the Federal American Eagle ammo.  I think it shoots better then that.  Just my .02

I have tried several makes of .223 ammo, even the wolf steel cased stuff. You need to try out a couple hundred rounds to get a good picture, not just a box or so.I have no problems with S&B, I like the 62grn better, its a heavier shot but i also have had no problem with the 62 grn wolf rounds!!!!

I've run ~800 rounds of S&B 55grn M193 thru my two Bushy's. I've had 3 FTF's to date. Both my rifles seem to like the stuff. It groups better for me than the Federal Am Eagle. For the price I will continue to use it till I have problems. I haven't tried the 62grn stuff yet.

I have shot S&B for years both in .223 55 grain and in .45 230 grain and I have never had a problem

I have used the 55grain S&B many times without any problem. I would have no problem recommending it to anyone. I have also used the .40S&W ammo without any problems. I buy S & B when ever it goes on sale. Good plinking stuff IMHO.

Well, S&B is the only factory ammo that has blown a primer in my AR.  The bolt failed to seat, even with the forward assist.  What was left of the primer jambed above the bolt, preventing it for locking fully forward.  On top of that, two rounds failed to fire, even with multiple strikes.

If you go back into the archives, some people will tell you of KB!s and warn you to stay away from S&B.  I think it might have been an earlier QA problem.  If they were having KB!s all the time, they would be out of biz.

In my area the gun shows usually have S&B within $20/1000 rounds of Q3131, so I buy the Q3131.  So, I just by the Q.
