Its not as fast as Q3131 nor XM-193.  This is Federal's budget .223 ammo, and its loaded to SAMMI specs.

It shoots fine, I find it more accurate than South African or any of the other 'surplus' ammo.  A great round for plinking or target shooting.

Not the kind of ammo you store in bulk for the ravaging hordes of orcs or such...

I agree, the Fed AE223 is great plinking/practice ammo!

It is about 200 fps slower than M193 specs, so it won't shoot to the same point of impact as your Q3131A, but it should group pretty well.

My problem with it is that the brass is crap.  Federal's brass has far too thin a case web (only 50-75% of the thickness of other .223 cases), and has very thick case walls.  This means lower internal case volume, higher pressures, and brass that tends to shuck primers easily.

It should be fine for shooting once, but don't reload that brass, or give it to anyone else to reload.  Pretend it's Berdan-primed and throw it away.
