Sorry never heard of it. But.........any chance I could get in on that deal. For 0.08 cents/rnd that is just to good to pass up.

Sounds too good to be true.

THe best I've bought SA surplus for was $0.12 per round.

I wonder if it's the commercial PMP made by Denel.

Have them read you the label off a box.

What is the case head-stamp on this ammo?

If it's DNL, it was made in the 1990s by the same parastatal company (Denel - formerly Armscor) that made the battle-pack ammo for the South African Defence Force in the 1980s (which have 85, 86, 87 etc. head-stamps).

I'm using DNL head-stamp 5,56x45mm and it works great.  (I'm not getting it so cheaply though - have to pay $6.75 for a box of 30 here in South Africa!)

Cheers from Cape Town!

That stuff has been floating around for at least 5 years. Cole Distributing has had it for years, J&G Sales more recently, but they were out last time I checked.

It's Denel, made in the late 90's, low flash, but not as hot as M193. It was popular here a few years ago before the battlepacks were more widely available.

I've seen it sold as .223 and 5.56. I'm not sure which it is.

I've used it in my Colt & DPMS and it's never failed.

For those of us who aren't concered about the battlepack packaging, where can we get this discount "loose" SA ammo?

TIA

I bought a bunch when Bob What's-His-Face was humping it for Coles. This is the stuff that had the crap in the extractor groove. Ran OK but was a good bit underloaded compared to real M193. Worth .08 per round for plinking, though. Just not SHTF ammo.

As people have mentioned, this ammo should be much newer production (98 or later), and should be Boxer-primed (reloadable), but will be 150-200 fps slower than M193 specs.  Some of the ammo also had excess sealant in the extractor groove, which bothered some folks visually, but IIRC, never caused a functional problem.

It turns out that the website was not clear.

This deal does not exist.

Do a search for 223 at http://www.coledistributing.com and see what I mean.

Sorry Guys

Anyone had any experience with this stuff?

South African M-193 5.56 made by Denel Group

I have a chance to buy 2,880 rounds for $210 delivered.  Yes that is less than .08 cents per round.

I went to Cole's and searched "223"......

OK.....So what is the problem? The website clearly shows 990 rounds of this stuff for $149 plus shipping.

Where did you ever get $210 for 2880 rounds????

Maybe someone needs to get some thick glasses....

I just ordered 1000 rounds from AIM surplus. It's the PMP in the box with the gazelle on it.  They have it listed today for $72 for 500 rounds, so about $145/ 1000.

Hopefully it will be good.. I've had some of the SA surplus in the battle pack, that was excellent.  Sure the PMP might be a little slower, but for my intended use (tactical matches, ranges less than 50, mostly less than 25 yards)

I'll get a report up when I fire some!

Because they changed it after I complained.  The $210 is the plus shipping.

Think about it before you make smart A$$ comments.
