| I just purchased some Winchester once fired brass. The headstamp is marked WCC 99. I have two questions. Are the primer pockets crimped and why is this Winchester brass marked WCC and not Winchester like the new unfired brass I have purchased until now? Thanks for taking the time to respond. |

It's because that is really Lake City brass. Winchester/Olin had the contract to operate Lake City up until 2000, and they were allowed to make M193-spec ammo there for civilian sales. They used to sell it under their Q3131 stock number. WCC is Winchester's military headstamp. -Troy |

WCC is actually the Western Cartridge Company. Remember Winchester-Western? USGI ammo (and USGI-spec) loaded by Winchester is marked WCC. As Troy notes it's probably from the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Cases marked W.C.C. are loaded by IMI for Winchester. All military spec ammo has crimped primer pockets. This is 5.56mm brass not .223 [;)]. -- Chuck |
