I am thinking about drilling and tapping the bolt on a 22 conversion for a bolt handle. Anyone done this? Results?

Tag. I built a .300 pistol upper with left side charge, its a XProducts version of the Matrix. I love it but it's expensive. My ar rifle is a right side charge tapped into the bolt like you mention and I like it too because it's like every traditional auto rifle and shotgun I've ever owned. Its a Crosshill receiver (they went out of business). I'm getting ready to build a .22 upper for my pistol but I think I'm just going to cheap out and use an Anderson upper rcvr with a std AR charging handle..

Mega makes an upper for a side charge knob. I'm sure it would be easy to do.

The bolts aren't too expensive. Maybe I'll get a replacement, drill and tap it and see how it runs.

Who sells just the charging handle knobs?

Be sure to put a dab of blue loctite on the knob threads each time you dissamble and clean your rifle.

I had contacted eisenich arms about thier side charger. They sell the knobs also. I talked to someone else about drilling the bolt for my 9mm for a knob but they said they could mill out the reciver for the reciprocating knob but couldn't drill the bolt because it was hardened. Is this the case? I too would like to know.
