| A police supply store I frequent has a Colt 9mm flat top (I don't know offhand the model #) for $996. How are these? Really thinking about buying it. |

Mine works just fine. I have a red dot on it and its death on steal targets. Get metalform mags for it. They make the mags for colt. They also make the 9mm mags for Palmetto - $19. Brownells also sells great 9mm Colt mags. I believe the Brownells has a slightly nicer finish to it for the same price. Mine have been 100% reliable. |

I got one, shoots great. The bbl nut came loose and I had to retorque it a few times to get the bbl nut indexed just right so the hand guards wouldn't be crooked. They get dirty really fast. How do you fix the barrel nut? How long ago did u buy your gun? |

Should be easy fix from anyone familiar AR building. No gas tube to mess with. |

I got slammed on a spare mag $52. My good friend has a RRA 9 and the barrel on his is thicker, not sure that really matters. Here's this bad boy, how are they with 124 grn +P gold dots? http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/daggercat/IMG_1610_zpsfnz632ii.jpg You did very well my friend. $52, must have the pony on it. Metalform is the way to go, PSA and Brownell's. Never have tried +Ps but 115, 124, 147 work fine. Again - EXCELLENT! |

For self defense hypothetically speaking....has there been any research into what load works best in this barrel length? |

Yes I have read somewhere in the past where someone had evaluated 9mm out of 16" barrel, where I don't know, would have to google search. Many many many of us carry 9mm with 4, 3.5, and 3 inch barrel pistols, out of a 16" within 100 yds it will certainly get the job done. |
| I shot this bad boy today. Very accurate. I shot 50 rounds of AE 124 grain fmj, 100 rounds of AE 115 grain, and 15 founds of 124+P Gold Dot without issue. I also ran a box of 50 AE 147 fmj fn and had about 5 ftfs. Is it the flat nose on the 147 grain or the OAL? Anybody else have this issue with 147 fmjfn? |

Good fo! Congrats on your purchase. My LGS had one sitting on the shelf for a while. It came home with me last week. Now its time to decide what optic or sight to pit on there. How much $$ if you don't mind my asking..... It was stickered at $1099. |

They are hard to find at a decent price. A friend of mine bought a Colt 6951 for $1049 a couple weeks ago; he had been looking for one for over a year but didn't want to pay the going price on auction sites.
You'll need plenty of magazines. Colt, MetalForm, PSA and Brownells are essentially identical, buy whatever is least expensive, I have all four, they all work just fine. 20 round or 32 round both work fine. I have some ASC 32-rnd magazines, they work fine in my Colt but I would not buy them again, they're just not as refined as these others. My barrel wasn't torqued down right, it worked loose a few hundred rounds. I sent it back to Colt since I didn't want to mess with it or pay a gunsmith. I can hit a steel target with the 16" barrel, AimPoint PRO, and 115gr (maybe it was 124gr) ammo so easily it gets boring. By the way, if you want to change the trigger there's more to it than just swapping out the Colt for a Geissele or whatever, you'll need to replace or modify the bolt as well. It'll run fine as is, once you starting changing things you're going down an expensive rabbit hole to make it work reliably. But that's another topic for another day. |

Aside from some MOE furniture and an optic of some sort it will stay as is. I was not aware of the barrel but issue. What should I watch out for? Loose barrel? Significant loss of accuracy? |

Got the proper tools: 1. http://www.uniquetek.com/members/696296/uploaded/armorers_wrench_labeled.jpg 2. Brownell's vice block https://www.shootingillustrated.com/media/1537017/d10764.jpg 3. vice Not that hard but first time sort of intimidating have to remove the ejector port cover and the rubber case deflector to make the vice block fit. I lost the little c clip on the end of the rod and had to buy a new one and got some spares while I was at it from eBay. Scratched the receiver a bit Lots of videos on removing the ejection port without removing the bbl on youtube I greased the threads with some black lithium grease I had laying around Quoted:
