| Can you swap the Bushmaster carbon figer upper for a metal 9mm upper and the parts work still? bolt, barrell, etc, etc. |
| Everything should fit fine. What exactly are you trying to do? Use a 9mm upper for 223 or just get rid of the carbon fiber for your 9mm? If you are changing calibers a dedicated upper may not work. My upper is stamped 9mm but still has the hole to put the gas tube through, not sure a dedicated upper has this hole. Mine also does not have the gas deflector and short dust cover that some dedicated uppers have. |

I was able to pick up this rifle at a great price and wanted to as you guessed do away with the Carbon Fiber upper. I have a 223 A2 upper, but as you also described, it has a gas tube hole and no deflector. |
| You can get the short door and deflector as parts. The deflector is just a chunk of plastic and not something particularly useful to some folks. The ejection port itself is identical to that on a .223 upper. And having the gas tube hole isn't a problem. In fact if you want to attach a rail, it's useful for lining up your barrel nut, since most rails index on the barrel nut one way or another. |
