What exactly does this kit do?

I read reviews about getting it for when shooting suppressed.. Do I need/want this if I do not have a suppressor?  I am building a dedicated .22lr rifle and am just about finished with it and though I would ask before I take it to the range and get blasted in the face with gasses..

What does it do though, and its it really needed?? I guess will I regret not having one?? I realize its only $15 but I am just unsure what it exactly even does haha... I have never shot a AR15 in .22 before..

IMHO, it reduced(not eliminated) gas in face when shooting suppressed with both 9mm and 22LR.

So if not shooting suppressed it does little to nothing? I do not have a suppressor or plan on ever getting one.

I'm curious about this too. Is there enough backpressure in an unsuppressed blowback AR to worry about gas coming back to the shooter?

From personal experience with a a few 16" suppressed dedicated 22LR and 5“ 9mm AR, IMHO... Yes to the point that it bothers me. On my builds I typically use a slick side or plug the fwd assist and RTV the changing handle to further mitigate the gas....again.. IMHO.. maybe I'm too much of a puss and should take up smoking to build up my tolerance.
