| Just got a promag magwell block in today. Don't really want to mess up my colt with sbr'ing it so I thought I'd mess with one of my other lowers. Anyway, I am planning to use a Hahn block eventually but money constraints are tight right now so I figured I'd give this a shot for $42 shipped. Wow. This thing blows. It doesn't have feed ramps. At all. It's square at the top of it. I took a file and cut in some crude ramps that seem to work while hand cycling. But I do not know if it will work firing live rounds. My advice? Stay the hell away from this thing. Save your duckies and buy a real block. Will update when I've live fired it tonight. Using C Products mags btw which function perfect in my Colt. |
| I took the same route (getting promag as a pacifier until I can get hahn), but I have to say my experience is the exact opposite. My 10.5" 9mm pistol functions flawlessly with metalform mags even with the pro mag block. Over 1k rounds flawless, it has even caused me to put the hahn block on the back burner and buy other firearm accessories. Hopefully things work long enough for you |

I got one just for the heck of it -- I think I payed $35 plus S/H. Only thing I didn't like was I had to remove the bolt stop to get the promag magblock in place. No big deal but I use the lower for 9mm and 7.62X25 Tok stuff so it takes 2 different magwell adapters and to get the promag magblock out I have to remove the bolt stop again. The promag sat a touch high on the feed ramp so I had to file it a bit to get the rounds to feed smooth. I later took it out and went back to my RRA magblock -- I'll keep the promag for some time later just in case I want to build an inexpensive 9mm.
A fellow I know wanted to do an inexpensive 9mm and got a fair deal on a barrel and bolt but the price of the good magblocks kinda made him decide on the promag magblock. Turns out it works fine with no mods and I believe he uses ASC 9mm mags. |

I'm very happy with the setup. |
| i also went the cheap route and got the Pro Mag block. i haven't used it a whole lot, but it is exactly as i suspected, which is you get what you pay for. my lower doesn't have a bolt catch because i removed it since this lower is a dedicated blowback SBR lower. anyways, it seems to work fine (so far), but i don't know if it works with Brownell mags at all. a couple of mags wouldn't seat right and they would drop free after the first shot. but i need to tinker with it some more. |

Having designed a couple of magwell adaptors.... .......the mag dropping is the latch.......not the adaptor.....if you look at how much engagement you have with the latch with the adaptor in and out of the magwell you'll see what I mean.....you can order a RRA but if you have a mill they aren't that hard to make....for personal projects and prototyping...I just spot a little on the engagement point with a tig and shape it with a dremel.
