I am starting to build a AR22 upper from scratch. I have the upper housing and will probably buy a taccom barrel. My question is this:

If I buy a AR22 conversion BCG like a CMMG can I take off the front conversion adapter and use the new barrel collar that comes with a dedicated AR 22 barrel? I have found the conversion BCGs in stock but all dedicated BCGs are backordered.

Thanks for the help!!

If you do indeed go with a Taccom barrel, they do come with the collar to fit the CMMG bolt group.  Thats why it is included, the standard CMMG collar will not work with a Taccom barrel.

On a sidenote we have one of Taccoms ULW barrels and really like it alot..

Just make sure you are very careful when removing the front of the bolt group when switching out to the dedicated collar. I spread the rails instead of twisting them open. 95% of the problems people have with .22LR bolt groups stems from people incorrectly removing/installing the collars. Once you bend the bolt group rails, it will never operate the same way again.

Buy the TACCOM Bolt with the Barrel.  I cleaned my TACCOM for the first time since owning it about 3 months and probably 1500 rounds.  Everything wiped off with a dry towel.  No solevents and it came clean right away.  That wont happen with my CMMG.

I have not tried Tim's but that's good to know. Hopefully I can give one a try.
