What are my options in .22LR dedicated uppers.  Want to buy another .22LR dedicated upper and are researching options.

I already have an CMMG 22LR upper that I recently bought. http://www.cmmginc.com/product_p/22b7ce6.htm   I have only shot 25-30 rounds through it, but my 14 year old son has put several hundred rounds down range.  Have a Aimpoint Micro T-1 2 MOA mounted and so far he loves it.  Have 20 Black Dog X-Form Magazines which work well  http://blackdogmachinellc.net/

So far I have found the following:

CMMG    http://www.cmmginc.com/category_s/1553.htm

Tactical Solutions   http://www.tacticalsol.com/tshome/ar22-22lr-conversion

DPMS      http://www.dpmsinc.com/22-Receiver-Kits_c_312.html

Spikes Tactical   http://www.spikestactical.com/new/z/uppers-22lr-uppers-c-147_218.html

Olympic Arms     http://www.olyarms.com/images/stories/Catalog/2013-Retail-Catalog.pdf

               http://www.chiappafirearms.com/product/2600
               http://www.chiappafirearms.com/product/2627

LAR Grizzly     http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/LAR_Grizzly_22LR_Terminator_Side_Charge_Upper_Reci_p/lar-22lr-terminator.htm

Jard J22 Upper, side charging handle     http://www.jardinc.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=53&Itemid=64

Am completely satisfied with the CMMG, but find the DPMS bull barrel appealing.  http://www.dpmsinc.com/22-Long-Rifle-CM-Bull-Barrel-Assy_p_136.html

Are the Spikes worth the extra money?

As of 3/24/13 others have added:

Compass Lake Engineeering    http://www.compasslake.com/22uppers.htm

Core 15 Rifle Systems   http://www.core15rifles.com/core15-complete-uppers/22-long-rifle-uppers/

Model "1" Sales    http://www.model1sales.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=310

Nordic Components    http://shop.nordiccomp.com/

TACCOM LLC    http://www.taccom3g.com/AR15_22LR_COMPONENTS.html

Are there others I am missing?  Open to suggestions.

I have a Model 1 Sales upper that I am very happy with.  They give you a bunch of options in barrel length and configuration and works very well with my BD magazines.

If you've got a little extra cheddar to spend, get a Lakeside Machine Razorback.  They should have more available in a couple months.  It's belt-fed and freakishly fun to shoot, I LOOOOOOVE mine.

Jard J22 Upper.
Has a side charging handle, instead of an AR type , which I am not to excited about.

Any body had experience with these?

DPMS/Nordic makes a very nice upper.
Mine would shoot 1/2" at 50 yards with Wolf MT.
Also uber reliable.

I recently bought a Spikes 5 1/2 in upper. I have under 50 rounds through it so far. Why so low of a round count? I can't get it to run.
I find now that it can be ammo specific and all I have is Remington and CCIs.
Plus I emailed Spikes almost two weeks ago with no reply. I will call  them when I get some Federal, which it's suppose to run with that.
If I has known that, I would have just built it myself like I was going to do. I am not digging on Spikes, I'm sure they will fix it if I cannot get it to run.

I just want a basic A3 style, 20"upper to go with my M4 style 16" 22 upper.  The 16" is a CMMG, and so far I'm happy with it.  What other options for a standard A3 style 20" upper?

Kacee,

I laughed when I saw your group with Stingers.  I have the DPMS .22 Bull Barrell too.  My barrell shoots stingers like each shot is a flyer--at 50 feet I am doing good to get a 1 inch group.  Wolf Montana is better but anything cheap shoots best iin my DPMS Upper.  With bulk Federal, Federal match, or the CCI AR .22 I get ragged holes at 50 feet.  I just tried 7 different types of .22 ammo at an indoor range the other day and Stingers were the worst for me.  Good shooting!

kasch_hunter,

CCI was the most expensive I tested. At that time they were almost $7.00 a box.

The next best were ArmScor 36gr.HS-HP @ about .04 a round.Needless to say I bought a case.

Which uppers are the most reliable?

My DPMS Bull Barrel has been flawless in operation.

My brothers S&W 15-22 has had two OOBD (Out of Battery Discharges).
The first one broke the extractor. S&W made repairs. The 2nd just scared
the crap out of him.

Never a problem with either the CMMG Sierra, or the CMMG kit that I owned
previously.

My very best have been my old CZ V-22 (hard to find any more) and my Spike's dedicated uppers (my favorites, hands down).

Of what's available now, everything I've tried has been hit and miss but the best has been my son's CMMG.
