I just finished my new 9mm SBR and had some stovepipes and weak ejection issues right away.

The ejector is set perfectly and the action is smooth. Here is my build:

DDLES Colt style lower
RRA flat top upper
Metalform 32rd mags
CMMG ramped bolt
DDLES 7.5" barrel
Spikes battle trigger
Spikes ST-9x buffer
Spikes standard carbine spring

I dug out an old post from Spikes saying the short, un-suppressed barrel might not have enough back pressure to run the heavy buffer. I ordered a St-t2 buffer and 9mm spacer.
Does anyone think this will work?

Review ammo used.  Have seen posts where weak loads were the problem area.

Your config looks like all the "Right Stuff".

Probably weak ammo/ too heavy of a buffer/new parts that need a little more break-in.  If the parts are new, you can try running a ~3-3.5 oz. carbine buffer during break-in and then move to a ~5 oz. or heavier 9mm buffer.

You may want to check your extractor tension also...

The ammo used was Winchester white box 9mm nato.

The ST-9x that I was running is 8.5oz. I think if the St-T2 weighs 4.3oz. That should make a difference.

The extractor seems to grip pretty firm.

I'll update when I get the new buffer and try it out.

OP , your setup is similar to mine. Im running the 8.5 oz buffer, metalforms,  and carbine spring with a battle trigger.
Mine was having periods of flawless ejection then it would FTE / partial stove pipes every once in awhile.

I ended up tweaking my ejector up and will see if that helps next time i get some range time and more ammo. (running low at the moment)

If i see any improvements in reliability either from the ejector adjustment or ammo change I will let you know.

Otherwise, its still a possibility the parts need some break-in time

ETA: I been using steel case wolf, so i could definitely benefit from some brass cased ammo im sure.
Us, 9mm guys with ejection issues gotta stick together! As my buddy, Saul, from Pineapple Express says, "Safety. Safety first then teamwork!"

124 gr. NATO 9mm (Q4138)?  I would think that should have been more than hot enough for a new build, even with the ~8 oz. buffer...
