Does anyone know if it is possible to covert a dedicated CMMG upper from .22 to a .223/5.56?  I know that I would need a BCG, barrel and barrel nut, but are the specs such that it would work?

I would probably just sell it and buy a PSA upper. Theres plenty of people that want .22 uppers and they are legal to send wherever.

Heck, theres probably people that would trade up. Try the EE

Yes it would work but why  do it would be my question. Just buy a another upper reciever and build a ar15 upper and keep the 22 upper as is or sell it. The upper reciever and possibly the handguards is all you could use from the 22 upper anyway. Not worth it in my opinion. But if thats what you want to do go ahead.

Well, my preference would be to keep it, but upper receivers are almost non-existent right now.  Kind of curious about whether I need to keep scrambling trying to find a receiver now or just keep shooting the .22.  I love shooting the thing and can shoot all day for $20!!  Thanks for the input guys.

CMMG uses standard AR parts.
You would have to change the ejection port cover.
But as stated, all you would save is the receiver, barrel nut and delta assembly.
Not worth it in my opinion.
Wait until the goofs doing the panic buying are through. You will be able to find an upper receiver easily, just like you used to.

Watch the Equipment Exchange section here. If you are on the ball you may find a upper reciever..
