Anybody ever think about modding a CH to make an anti jam one. I don't like the plastic one that came with my CMMG upper and I shoot lefty so I'd like an ambi one and was thinking I'd could take a CH and fill the gas tube gap with JB weld. The only thing that stops me from doing it is I'd hate to have a 60 dollar CH that I could only use for .22lr

I've been wanting to do this for my ST-22 upper.
What I'd like to see are some good photos showing the contour of the CMMG CH and exactly where it's filled in.
I've got no problem with converting the Spike's CH that came with my upper as it matches.
And after two Gunfighter upgrades to other AR's, I've got two standard CH's as spares anyway.

I do not know about the Spikes but we have always ran a Standard AR one in our CMMG since we recieved it. Never, ever have we had a empty case jam in a Standard Charging handle. And it has had thousands of rounds through it. We also eliminated the Shell deflector and put a standard ejection cover on too. Never been hit by a spent case or gases blowing back.  Since in your case you are left handed it may be best to have the deflector however.

So as far as doing this for a CMMG I think it is a waste of time. Spikes may be a differant story. No experience with them.

I get hang ups occasionally between the top of the bolt and the breech collar.
Can't say that I've ever had a case actually end up in the channel in the CH.
Nonetheless, it can occur. For a dollar's worth of JB Weld I'm willing to give it a shot.

I want to say I've seen pics of it being done with gasket sealant like what's done for home-made gas busters.  I'd like to do a GF for my dedicated AR to match what's on my main 5.56.
