I am running a Ciener kit on a Sendra (H&B enterprises conversion) M16.

I purchased some 25 rd mags from Blackdog machine, I've tried every brand of 22LR ammo on the market, polisehd the rails, greased the rails, run the rails dry...

I've trimmed my recoil spring, I stretched my recoil spring, I've added a block to the upper to hold it more firmly in the upper, I replaced the factory firing pin...

I still can't get more than 50% reliability out of this thing.  Sometimes I might get 15 rounds in a burst, at other times, it is singleshot.

If you name a failure/jam, I've had it.  Short strokes, double feeds, stovepipes, hammer down on a live round, etc.

I've owned this thing since 2003, or 2003.  I've run tens of thousands of rounds through it, and nothing has ever made it any but a series of jams, misfeeds and FTF.

Seriously, what am I overlooking?  Is there any kit on the market, or solution that a guy with not machine shop can do to make this damn thing run reliably?

Nothing I do seems to have any positive effect.  A solution one day seems to be the cause of failures the next day...

some pics from my recent tinkering:

It seems to me that the anti-bounce weight is my problem.  It does not prevent bouncing.  It has been damaged from use over the last decade of wear, but, even when new it did not seem to help much.

If I try to run the gun without the weight, it fires only a single shot and then does not set the hammer properly, so, it smells like the smoking gun to me, but I don't see  a way to make it work as designed?

Get in touch with Dave, that is SpecOps-13, see if he can help.

Post a pic of your chamber / chamber adapter.

Smells to me like trip timing problems –– which are crazy exasperated when the anti-bounce is not consistent. .

What's the gap between the bolt and chamber adapter/collar when the hammer gets tripped?

Have you tried the ball detent trick?

????????  Try CCI Mini Mags, the longer Lakeside Recoil Spring Spring and NO Anti Bounce Weight.
Other than that, If it's always been troublesome, look at the Chamber Dimensions, the Collar or Chamber
Adapter Ramp. Nothing there, maybe Trip Timing caused by the lower... Ciener's Trips are generally GTG...
but may need a tweak.....

Good Luck,

Gawd, all of your problems sound like the ones I had when I was running a Ciener kit in my Colt M16. I could get a mag once in a blue moon to run all rounds without a problem. Then there were all of the other times that I tried to get my kit running right. I tried everything like you did.
Once I "though" I had it figured out I would have other problems every freaking time.

I ran the kit in 3 other RR's to no joy. The only fix I had for it was that I sold it off.

I really wish I had an answer for you but I am at a loss as for any sure fire fix.

+1 on the MiniMags - if it don't run with MiniMags - don't know what will.
The one other thing is the recoil spring - have you tried the Lakeside springs?  I only run semi but find that keeping the springs uncut or as near full-length as possible results in better functioning.  Asked Rick Kuehl about it once - he said the stronger spring might help hold the breech closed just a skoosh longer - why that improves reliability I couldn't tell you but it works in my limited experience.

YMMV

CMMG will eventually come out with an adjustable trip. But right now, it's on the drawing boards.
Ron Williams and I have 2 sets of their standard stainless steel parts from CMMG and we can't
make them fail. I picked up a set of Ciener's Parts prior to testing of the new CMMG Trip and
Bounce and they ran perfect in Ron's Lower,,,, that prior to damage to the bounce weight. Ron
welded and filed the damage and the Ciener stuff works fine again.

The longer Lakeside Spring is Kick Azz but does require ammo running in the range of 1250 FPS.

Note: As of yet CMMG's FA Parts aren't available for purchase...

Dave's the man. Between him and Ron they seem to have it covered on F/A stuff.
